As the Robot's personality grew, he acquired a sense of humor, mocking Dr Smith's attempts to ridicule him and even laughing at him. ("The Challenge", "Collision of the Planets")

Although the Robot was not programmed to protect the Robinsons, he was motivated to do so. He called Will Robinson his friend. ("The Lost Civilization") He also called Penny Robinson his friend. ("The Galaxy Gift")

The Robot eventually reached a level of self-control and awareness that he was able to program himself with new skills and abilities. ("The Colonists")
