Whit Bissell was born on October 25, 1909 in New York City. He appeared in many science fiction movies during the 1950s, including "I Was a Teenage Werewolf" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon". Bissell was a regular for the third and fourth seasons of the television series Bachelor Father (1959-1961), costarring John Forsythe, Noreen Corcoran, and Sammee Tong. Irwin Allen fans know of his portrayal of Lt. Gen. Heywood Kirk on The Time Tunnel, Dr. Krane of "The Secret City of Limbo" episode of Land of the Giants, Professor Holmes of City Beneath the Sea, and Connors in "The Peacemaker" episode of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.

He appeared as a guest star in practically every dramatic television series that aired between the early 1950s and the mid 1970s, with more sporadic appearances after that. Bissell died in 1996 of Parkinson's disease.
